Letting Go, Not Giving Up: The Freedom of Acceptance

Letting Go, Not Giving Up: The Freedom of Acceptance

Life can get a bit crazy, right? it’s like dealing with a bunch of tricky puzzles and surprises. Well, sometimes, we hit a point where we can either say “Okay, cool!” or “No way, I’m fighting this!” Now, here’s the twist: saying “Okay, cool!” doesn’t mean you’re giving up. It’s like letting go of a balloon and watching it float away, all weightless and free.

First let me tell you why I’m writing this post. One day one of relatives burst with curiosity. She couldn’t help but wonder and asked me, “How come you always keep your cool in difficult family situations? ( you people know what I am talking about here) You never seem to lose your temper!” .

It was a real head-scratcher for her, like trying to solve a mystery. And what did I do in response? Well, I greeted her with my classic, friendly smile, as I often do.

But here’s the thing – this question isn’t unique to just that one relative. Many people have wondered about it. So, let me share the inside scoop on why this puzzle has piqued the curiosity of so many.

P.S: Hold on, I’m not suggesting you “Let Go” of every single situation, friends!

Come explore this intriguing perspective with me.

Releasing things is as natural as breathing, but it sure isn’t easy, often bringing us heaps of anger.
We come across various situations that demand us to let go, like:

  1. When a family member, who is older than you, says something you don’t like.
  2. Coping with the loss of a loved one.
  3. Switching up our habits.
  4. Changing jobs.
  5. Moving away from home sweet home.
  6. Saying goodbye to a relationship.

Release to Receive

These are all moments when we’re forced to become experts in the school of life, even though no one handed us the syllabus.

If we pause and ponder, we’ll notice that the concept of “letting go” is like the eternal soundtrack playing in the background of our lives.

We ought to realize that these words, “letting go,” aren’t solely associated with pain, loss, or suffering. Sometimes, it is a path to finding a touch more happiness.

Hence, it’s valuable to keep in mind that the act of needing to “let go” or release is also a chance for self-renewal and ongoing personal growth, as mentioned earlier.

Give Time Time

When we lose something or someone, or when we decide to move on from them, it can feel like a big, heavy door closing in front of us. We might even think it’s the end of the world.

But here’s the thing: if we give it some time, beautiful things can come back into our lives. Life has a way of surprising us with good stuff when we least expect it. So, even when things seem tough, remember that better days can come along with time.

Letting Go of what hurts us is a choice for our health

It doesn’t matter if you end up with just a few people by your side. It doesn’t matter if you focus on only a couple of passions in life.

If these are the things and people that genuinely bring you happiness, and enrich your mind and heart, then all the sacrifices you’ve made will have been worthwhile.

Remember, even what you leave behind has played a crucial role. Every experience is significant, and while it might not be your ultimate destiny, it’s an essential part of your personal history.

The Power of Letting Go

Now, you might be wondering how to embrace the power of letting go.

Come let’s explore the practical side. Here are some interesting and insightful thoughts to guide you in accepting the power of letting go:

The Elastic Band Metaphor

Have you ever tried stretching a elastic band in your hand? If you stretch it too much, it may snap. However, if you hold it lightly, it retains its flexibility and adaptability.

Life’s challenges are like that elastic band. When we hold onto them too tightly, they become overwhelming. Instead, stretch your perspective a bit and let go to find balance.

The Puzzle Puzzle

Ever tried solving a jigsaw puzzle without the picture on the box? Life’s challenges are similar—sometimes, we don’t have the complete picture.

Embrace the mystery and let go of the need to figure everything out. The beauty lies in solving the puzzle one piece at a time.

  4. It’s great how you highlighted the circumstances in life can be applied to letting go and not giving up. I could certainly relate to that one about career. About a decade ago, I left my home country and fought my way to find a job here in Singapore. After 2 months, I went back with a heavy heart, a BIG hole in my pocket, but belief that it wasn’t the end and I’m not giving up. Two months after, I got a job and went back.

  6. This post resonates with my feelings and struggles Anjali. Having struggled with a lot of work-life issues and the terminal illness and passing away of my Father, I have come to realize that it is the one biggest thing anyone can do for oneself, letting go… of ego, and past negative memories, and letting go of fear only then can one make way for new experiences and positivity as you rightly said.

  7. This post resonates with my feelings and struggles Anjali. 8. A very thoughtful post! Whenever I go through a difficult situation where I feel like I am getting bothered by the slightest thing, I journal. I note down all the thoughts that are going on, it helps me to streamline my mind. In most cases, I tell myself someone’s unpredictability isn’t my responsibility and thus I will not be bothered.

  9. I always say life is beautiful and all that we need to do is to look at the bright side of things if with naked eyes we find something odd or wrong in our life. For letting go… I will prefer to use 2 different terms for this… ignore or accept and move ahead in life.

If you find someone constantly poking you with questions which are stupids, intolerable, irritating and affecting your mental state or making you uncomfortable… avoid interaction and ignore.
If you are coping with the loss of a closed one or saying goodbye to a relationship…. first develop your power of acceptance and move ahead. Everyone cannot stay with us till eternity … the moment we make us believe this … moving ahead in life will be easy.
Bad, good, better and best are the features of the moments or episodes in our lives… let it take its turn one after another…. acceptance will be easy. A very powerful post Anjali….. congratulations.
