My choice is what I choose to do,
Ben Harper
And if I’m causing no harm, it shouldn’t bother you.
Your choice is who you choose to be,
And if you’re causin’ no harm, then you’re alright with me.”
The more we age, the more difficult it becomes to learn new things. But in my view, learning new skills or doing what you’ve wanted to do for a long time can lead to a happier, more balanced personal life.
Whether you want to stay current with technology, learn a second language, become a content writer, or simply have something new to do in your spare time, developing your skills for personal growth is essential. Life-long learning improves your overall quality of life.
It’s My Choice
If you’ve ever visited my blog or followed me on social media, you’ll know how much I enjoy my blogging career. I never thought I’d say this, but I honestly can’t think of anything better than this. Even though I frequently receive the following questions from our family members: Why did you choose blogging over any other job? And always my answer is I chose it for my personal growth, It’s My Choice.
A Year of Saying “It’s My Choice”
We all have those moments when we feel like our life is finally going the way we want it to. The stars are aligned, and everything is falling into place. You feel happy, satisfied, and confident in your ability to make good choices and stay on the path you want to be on. You’re making strides towards your goals and seeing the results of your hard work. You’re proud of who you are and where you’re going. You feel like you’re exactly where you need to be. These are the moments that make us think, “This is it.” This is what I was working towards”. And it feels great until it doesn’t. Until the stars fall out of alignment and something spurs them to realign in a different pattern entirely. Next thing you know, you’re in a completely different place than you were before. Now is the time to make a choice. A choice like I made to start my Blogging journey.

Lessons Learned After a Year of Saying “It’s My Choice”
A year ago, I chose to start saying “it’s my choice” rather than “it’s the right thing to do,” “it’s what I should do,” or “it’s what I have to do.” To be honest, I don’t remember exactly how or why I came up with the idea, but I know it had to do with my personal growth. I was in a place where I was making some decisions that felt really good.

You Get Better at Recognising Triggers that Make You Feel Bad
When we’re on the path of personal growth, we learn to recognise the “triggers” that make us feel bad. We know to identify the words and actions that set us off and make us feel bad about ourselves.
You begin to see how other people’s words and actions cause you to feel bad about yourself. You may notice how you sometimes do the same thing to others. You begin to understand how your reactions are based on these triggers. You know you don’t have to be a slave to your emotions. You begin to see how you can use your emotions to your advantage. You begin to understand how you can use those emotions to make better decisions in your life.
You Find Ways to Enjoy the Moments
You find ways to enjoy the moments even when it doesn’t last. When you’re on the path to personal growth, you notice how brief many moments can be. You see when you’re in a fleeting moment of joy and bliss. And as soon as you’re out of it, you start to wonder, “How long will this last?” You begin to panic a little bit. You begin to worry about what you need to do to make it last. You wonder if you have what it takes to keep it going. You begin to feel fear, doubt, and panic. You begin to notice the moments when they’re happening. You begin to recognise the emotions you’re feeling. You begin to pay attention to your thoughts. You begin to notice when they’re fleeting. You begin to accept that they’re brief but also notice that they’re beautiful. You begin to enjoy the moment for what it is.
Bottom Line: Finding Happiness Takes Practice.
We all want and strive for happiness, but getting it is not always easy. It’s not a destination you arrive at once you’ve accomplished everything on your to-do list. It’s a journey that requires patience, perseverance, and a little luck along the way. It’s a practice that requires daily attention and dedication. To find happiness, you must be open and willing to experience new things. You must be willing to try new things, even though you might fail or make mistakes along the way. You have to be willing to put yourself out there and take risks. You have to be willing to learn from your mistakes and experiences. And you have to be willing to be patient with yourself while you do so.
You always have a choice, no matter how difficult things get at times. What choices did you make? Could you share it with us?

The first rule of personal growth is unleash your inner self. When we stop worrying too much about what others are saying, we are already on the path towards personal growth. Its our life and we are in the driving seat.
Oh I so agree that we all as a blogger hear this so many times that ..do something meaningful!! But I believe that what so ever I choose as my job in life it should be satisfying me and my mental health.
It is always right to explain things from our point of view rather than what people intent to hear. You have chosen the right set of words to express own work and how it gives happiness. Self happiness is what matters at the end of the day.
It’s our internal inhibition or mental blocks that hamper our personal growth. Your article wonderfully touches upon the intricacies of self growth.
After my father was diagnosed with cancer, I had to make changes in my life. I chose to give up teaching profession of 28 years so that I could look after him. After his death I never went back to my profession. I had mom to take care of and my dogs who were now very old. So, I started my own startup and started working from home. That was my choice and it has brought about many changes in my life. I now adopt terminally ill abandoned senior dogs from shelter and give them a forever home till they die. This is a never-ending process.
I following the same path since last more than 5 years and agree with your thoughts completely. many times, we feel anxious with the other people’s reaction towards reaction but when we think peacefully, then we realized all those things are temporary. we all have a complete right to make a choice as per our wish and this is the thing that brings true happiness in life.
Absolutely and I am so glad Anjali you decided to pen this here I have been in blogging for a decade and a half and not I don’t even reply because I don’t want to explain in words the solace I get in blogging
Very insightful post you have shared. I am following the same path from 2020. I felt like giving up some days but this kind of posts gave me hope. I am loving my blogging career now and it’s definitely my choice. WE GOT IT SIS!
Choices could go either way, this acceptance takes one a long way. It’s so much about enjoying the journey and not the destination. This is so true. Well said.
So nicely put, Anjali! What we choose ultimately decides the path our life takes and inspires the good or bad emotions that come with it. If blogging makes you happy, go for it! So it does for me too. 🙂
I agree finding happiness takes practice but if you are adamant being happy then no one can stop you. I am glad Anjali that you found your happiness and know your trigger points to make emotions work for you.
Its my life, its my choice. I so lce your blog it looked it was me talking to me.
What makes me me is what matters the most. For A moment to make someone else happy and forget self isnt my life purpose.
I am so much in love with this post, as it reflects me in a way. I am so done with validations and justifications, that now I have stopped listening to all those qualms. It’s My Choice, and I deserve to be in a happy space too. Thank you for participating and joining us for this small endeavor.
As a Self- are advocate, having the right to choose what you want to do and how you live your life is one way to live your life to the fullest. Chasing over things that don’t mean to you but only to amuse other people is not the way to live. You’ll be able to shine in no matter what you do as long as you do it with love.
After reading this I feel j am not alone in the anxiety and panic attacks I get
Blogging is indeed difficult especially when you are not getting results
I made a lot of choices which I decided will be good for me
.I never awaited any consent nor do I look for validation. I’m glad you made your choices
I started blogging in 2014 .I am happy to say,it’s a wonderful experience.I like how you said it was your choice to blog and hobby or career blogging like writing works best when we choose it with our heart.Best wishes with blogging.
The path to personal growth is addictive, you become so aware of your choices that you deny looking away from them. Even after 5 years of blogging, I still have two sets of people around me, one, who doesn’t understand what I do and the other who doesn’t want to understand what I do ..LOL
That’s such a beautiful post. I agree it’s not easy to be blogger and it’s been 5 years I am blogging and I feel happy. I am glad you made your choices.
I have heard this so much – what do you do ACTUALLY apart from blogging! Its my choice and i stand by it.
No matter what, its always need to be your choice whether you want to do things or not. No one should control it. Lovely article.
yes learning about the trigger points is so true. we learnt so much when its our choice to do what we want to do. happiness lies within so whatever we do with love, makes us happy!
Yes when people throw a question ‘what writing or blogging giving to us?, really makes panic sometimes, however I chose to better be deaf sometimes. As the level of contentment matters the most for me.
