Where Memories and Love Forever Flow

Where memories and love forever flow

Once upon a summer’s day, a tale I shall unfold,
Of a holiday adventure, where memories were pure gold.
To my grandparents’ humble abode, I embarked on a quest,
Where quirkiness and laughter awaited, I knew it’d be the best.

Their house stood proud, surrounded by trees,
A magical place where time took its ease.
With creaky floors and a porch swing chair,
It whispered tales of yesteryear.

Grandma’s hugs were warm like the sun,
Grandpa’s jokes had just begun.
Together, they painted joy in my heart,
Creating memories, a priceless work of art.

In the attic’s dusty embrace, treasures awaited,
Boxes filled with stories, carefully curated.
I stumbled upon an old photo album with a grin,
A gateway to the past, where new stories begin.

Memories poured from every page,
Moments frozen in time, like a time-travelling stage.
We laughed and reminisced, with each memory shared,
A treasure trove of love and laughter bared.

We feasted on Grandma’s secret recipes,
Tantalizing flavours, a symphony for the taste buds, you see.
Grandpa’s tall tales of adventure and daring,
Had us on the edge of our seats, barely blinking.

In the garden, we played hide-and-seek,
Amongst the flowers, giggles would peek.
The swings took us high, reaching for the sky,
As we soared into dreams, carefree and spry.

Together we’d stroll down memory lane,
Tales of their youth, a colourful hurricane.
The mischievous pranks and childhood glee,
Their stories became a part of me.

In the evenings, beneath the starry sky,
We’d gather ’round the fire, flames reaching high.
Ghost stories were spun, their shadows danced,
While sweet potato roasted, eagerly chanced.

Those holidays at my grandparents’ place,
Filled my heart with love, and life’s embrace.
For in their presence, time seemed to stand still,
And every moment became a memory to fulfill.

So let us hold dear those moments in our heart,
For they weave a tapestry, a timeless work of art.
In the embrace of family, love finds its prime,
Creating holiday memories that will withstand time.

  1. These kind of holidays are the most nostalgic, I must say though I’ve never been on such holidays! Lovely!

  2. I am jealous as I never had such wonderful holidays as my grand parents used to stay with us and it was difficult for mom to take us to maternal grand pa’s house as there was no one to take care of grandparents at home. Rarely in my childhood I got to know what holidays are and even travelling was less that time to new places. But after marriage I started travelling and relished holidays. Now I want my baby’s holidays to be memorable and happening… wish I missed he should not miss. Coming to your poetic sense…Dear Anjali can you tell what other hidden talents you stored in your kitty. You surprise me with every post of yours. Just loved it and felt nostalgic.

  16. This a lovely poem that reminded me of my nani’s place in Udhna, Surat. Just penning a few lines in sync with your poetry. Hope you like them….

It’s an old, quaint place that filled my heart with joy and peace
Where the sun shone brightly each day and a gentle breeze
The lush green trees covered in dew drops of morning light
And a nearby river where I’d go and take delight
The fragrance of jasmine blooming in winter chills
In summer, the mangoes would make such a sweet thrill
The birds chirping loudly and dancing in the sky
My nani’s house was like heaven, it is no lie.
It was a place of joy, love and laughter that I soon came to adore
And I will never forget all the memories we made there for sure.

  22. This place has taken me back to the childhood bliss, so many years we enjoyed with utmost fun and total innocence. That was the era when happiness didn’t come ‘derived’. It was present in the smaller things, seeing a snail crawl on a rainy day, or running behind the seed-bursting pods. The most beautiful poem I have read in recent days.
