How to make popsicles at home?
Summers in the gulf is the season of scorching heat, and on the hottest days, nothing sounds more appealing than ice-cold popsicles.
Healthy homemade fruit popsicles are an easy & refreshing treat to help you cool down from the heat. A fun way for children and adults to experiment in the kitchen is to make homemade fruit popsicles. They are a hit for all ages. They are so guilt-free that you can let your kids eat whenever they want – breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner. It is also a great way to bring more nutrients to your day without using processed sugar. The issue with the store-bought type is that they usually contain high fructose corn syrup and artificial flavours and colours.
These popsicles are so variegated that you can keep fickling with the recipe all year long according to the fruits you have in hand. So grab your favourite ingredients and let’s play around! A combination of puree and juices works to infuse different flavours of colours. To add texture and visual appeal, you can chop small and thinly sliced pieces of fruits like watermelon, strawberry, kiwi, or plum.
Each popsicle has a different flavour. I made a few with my kids and they loved it. It’s a perfect way to connect up with kids like my daughter was busy creating popsicles with me, and my son took all the beautiful pictures. It’s so heartwarming to see your kids savouring on something they enjoy till the last bite while nothing is more satisfying and assuring than the goodness of natural fruits. 1. Sweet Kiwi popsicles
2 Green Kiwis, peeled and sliced
1 Golden Kiwi, peeled and sliced (optional)
2 cups Coconut water
1tsp honey (optional)
In a blender, puree 2 kiwis, 1 cup coconut water, and honey.
Cut the remaining kiwi & Plum into slices.
Evenly divide the diced Kiwi, plum & blueberries into the moulds, tapping them down. With the help of blueberries press Kiwi & plum to the side of the moulds, making sure pieces fit very snugly.
Stir the popsicle mixture and gently pour into four popsicle moulds, and pour the rest of the coconut water into the remaining four moulds. Freeze them-up.
Take out from the freezer after 1 hour and insert the popsicle stick, now freeze it for another few hours.
2. Strawberry popsicles
These strawberry popsicles are sweet, nutritious, and quite catchy.
1 cup Fresh chopped Strawberry
3 Strawberries, hulled and halved
Honey (or maple syrup)
plain whole-milk Greek yoghurt (you can use homemade yoghurt also)
Add the yoghurt, honey (or maple syrup) & chopped Strawberries into a blender. Blend it well.
Evenly divide sliced Strawberry into the moulds. Stir the popsicles mixture and gently pour into popsicle moulds. Freeze it for 1 hour.
Take out from the freezer after 1 hour and insert the popsicle stick, now freeze it for 6 hours, or overnight.
Run the moulds under warm water for 10 to 15 seconds. Slowly and carefully remove each popsicle.
If you don’t have freezer pop moulds, You can use small paper cups and popsicle sticks.
